So my friend and fellow author Martina McAtee (awesome paranormal YA stuff, check her out) tagged me in a challenge on Facebook and I had so much fun, I figured why not post it on my blog! So grab some tea hunny, here come 5 Author Secrets from Me! 1) I self-published a novel in High School that I hope never sees the light of day. Like, if I could put it in the box alongside the Ark of the Covenant from the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark, it wouldn't be buried enough.
2) I almost quit querying my debut novel because I was reaching an unhealthy level of obsession with checking my email. Like, it was SUPER bad. Refreshing every minute, bad.
3) When my editor sent over the first round of edits for TGSS, I didn't know how the "track changes" function worked and most assuredly screwed everything up. And then sent it back with like, 2,000 changes unaccepted.
4) I have a crippling fear of looking like an idiot. I can't think of anything that makes me more anxious than making a fool of myself on a massive scale. This is a great career choice then, isn't it?
5) I have, on more than one occasion, broken down in the middle of a crowded Starbucks because what I was writing was so sad. Most people don't give it a second thought, but one time an old woman came and sat next to me and gave me a pat on the shoulder. Her name was Doris and she's my guardian angel.
So there you have it! Five secrets spilled. Juicy weren't they?... Yeah, I'm about as interesting as vanilla yogurt. But the GIFs were fun!
Anyways...
Thanks for reading! Be sure to stay tuned for some exciting news about my next project, LOCK & WEST, coming later this month! Later alligators,
-Alexander
